Paralegal Studies

While lawyers assume overall responsibility for their legal work, they often request assistance from paralegals. Paralegals and legal assistants may be asked to conduct research, prepare reports or help lawyers prepare for legal proceedings and business meetings. Paralegals and legal assistants work in various organizations, including private law firms, corporations and government offices.

The Paralegal Studies program in the School of Criminal Justice at ITT Technical Institute is designed to help students develop knowledge and skills that they can use to pursue entry-level positions such as paralegals or legal assistants. Areas of study include ethics, legal research and writing, law office technology and other specific areas of the law, such as criminal law, contract law and litigation, among others. The program is also intended to help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
