ITT Technical Institutes Announce First Quarter Scholarships

Carmel, Ind. (April 27, 2015) - ITT Educational Services, Inc. (NYSE: ESI) today announced it awarded more than $57.5 million in scholarships during the first quarter of 2015.

Last year, the ITT Technical Institutes awarded more than $240 million in scholarships and instituted a tuition rate freeze as part of its commitment to serve non-traditional students at its more than 130 campuses nationwide.

The top five states for scholarship in the first quarter of 2015 awarded more than:

  • California - $6.9 million
  • Texas - $5 million
  • Florida - $4.6 million
  • Ohio - $3.9 million
  • Virginia - $2.9 million

"ITT Tech remains committed to making high quality, career and STEM-based education, like that offered by ITT Technical Institute, more accessible," said Eugene Feichtner, president and chief operating officer of ITT Educational Services, Inc.

The tuition rate freeze began with those students enrolling in the December 2014 quarter. As part of the initiative, the tuition rate for students is guaranteed to never increase as long as they remain continuously enrolled.

In 2013, more than $170 million in scholarships were awarded. In 2014, scholarship awards increased by more than $70 million, which lowered program cost for approximately 72 percent of ITT Tech students nationwide.

Today, virtually none of ITT Tech's students use private, third-party loans to pay for their education.

"Affordability remains a primary focus for ITT Tech as we strive to help students better their lives and become productive participants in the nation's workforce," said Feichtner.
