Since all courses are taught in English at ITT Tech and all books used in these courses are written in English, you must be
proficient in English language skills to pursue your intended course of study. If your native language is not English, you
must take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) to determine your English language skills.
1. Minimum Score
The minimum TOEFL score required by the ITT Technical Institutes is:
500 (with no section score below 45) for a paper-based test; or
173 (with no section score below 12) for a computer-based test.
Your TOEFL score must be submitted directly to ITT Technical Institute from the testing organization. Photocopies and faxed
copies of your test score, or copies sent from other institutions are not considered official and will not satisfy the English
language proficiency requirement.
2. Exemptions
You are exempt from having to take the TOEFL, if you document that you have achieved one or more of the following:
Four years of high school or secondary school in the U.S. or a country where English is the official language;
An undergraduate degree from an institution in the U.S. or a country where English is the official language;
A level of 109 or above from the ELS Language Centers;
A score of 17 or higher on the ACT (English Version); or
A score of at least 500 each on the math and verbal sections of the SAT (English version).
